Catch 22
We are in a major catch 22 (I am not even sure what that means)... anyway. Our first goal was to get the pain under control. We think that has been done but last night Mom had some panic attacks and they gave her vallum to calm her down. She has been completely out of it since around 10am so there is no way to tell how much pain she is in. Because she is so out of it she is not coughing up the phlygm and she had this gurling sound we became worried about her breathing ... really worried. We had to struggle to get her to wake up and to look at us ... we tried to coach her into coughing. She tried but it did not happen. Bert, Dad and I tried everything we could think of but she was just unable to get her to do it. They did a chest x-ray and gave her some drugs to counter the pain medication. The gurgling has stopped and I have not heard the results of chest x-ray yet. Her oxygen sat rate is at 93 with assistance so now we just need to pray that it stays that way. We also need her to sleep off the vallum. Then we got to go potty and get to the dentist. In order to start the treatment for myeloma we need to make sure that all her teeth are ok. And since Mom's fear of doctors includes dentists she has some repair work that needs to be done first. But in order to do that she must wake up and be able to sit up. Some of the treatments for myeloma have a side effect that can greatly impact your teeth. Her kidneys are in bad shape and in order to fix the kidneys we need to treat the myeloma ... but we can't treat the myeloma until we go to the dentist. And we got to go potty right away.
