They have ordered more blood for Mom. I have not seen the labs yet so I am not sure what they are trying to correct. Her anemia was really bad so I am guessing that she needs more blood to address the anemia issue. The symptoms of anemia include fatigue, trouble breathing, weakness and dizziness plus others. So gettting that portion corrected should improve the way Mom feels.
The doctors have told us that yesterday Mom was falling asleep then not breathing or taking very swallow breaths for 90 seconds. To Elizabeth and I ... it sounds like apnea. Typically, the individual will wake up, emit a vigorous snort or grunt while gasping for air, then immediately fall back to sleep, only to repeat the cycle. This is exactly what Mom was doing yesterday which lead to the ventilator.
