Room G974
The night in Room G974 was a rough one -- mainly because mom started to panic big time. She was having nightmares (she told us we would laugh) that she was in the Iraq war. She watches CNN and Fox News all the time -- we clearly need to cut that out in the future. But seriously she would panic and pull off her oxygen becoming very upset and terribly scared. Dad and I had to coach her and talk to her non-stop from 4am till around 7am. The morning has shown more promise. We were able to get her onto her back at 8am (major miracle since yesterday) ... and she is still on her back with her head up as I type. We have been able to reduce the oxygen level dramatically with plans to continue to lower as the day goes on. She is completely drunk and unable to keep her eyes open. So we are now waiting for her to sleep it off and to reduce her pain medications significantly. The myeloma doctors feel that if they can start the treatment of the myeloma then the kidney function will improve. But before we start the myeloma treatment she needs to see the dentist as they medication can damage your teeth and impact your ability to eat. Her appointment was for today but they have canceled it until she is able to sit in a wheelchair and is more stable. So the prayers for today include ... sobering mom up so that she can keep her eyes open and getting her well enough to do the basic physical movement ... sitting, standing, eating and going to the bathroom. Bert is on his way now and between the three of us we will coach her through her drunken state ... since Mom has never even taken a drink this "drunken" feeling really freaking her out a bit. Also -- she has a significant amount of phlygm from the tube they used to pump her stomach on Tuesday -- we are praying that that goes away soon as it is driving her crazy (it would drive me crazy too).
