4:45 AM Dialysis Call
The nurse entered at 4:30am to take Mom's vitals. The good news is ... she actually woke us up. In order to be "woken" you gotta be "sleepin" ... so Mom actually slept for a few hours. Then at 4:45am transport arrived to take Mom to dialysis. We sat in the ICU room for about 45 minutes prior to dialysis starting. Another bit of good news in this early morning fog is that Carolyn is her dialysis nurse -- she is very good. She is a large African American woman with this huge head of very curly hair (big curls ... like Shirley Temple) and she has the great big smile. She is very nice and very good. Mom's dialysis nurse on Saturday was horrible. Mom hates being in ICU for dialysis ... I think its all the noises that she remembers from being on the ventilator. Having been in ICU myself once it doesn't really thrill me to be in there either ... so I totally understand why she does not like it!
