Dr. Plana

We had a very frustrating appointment with Dr. Plana.  He told us that velcade did cause the damage to Mom's heart ... of course, this is the same guy who told Mom she had had a heart attack.  We discussed her blood pressure and he still wanted to keep it low.  Now what we did not ask was exactly what range was he looking for.  He told Mom that her MD Anderson picture was ugly and she should have another one made ... now it is not a good photo by any stretch and I think he was trying to be funny.  He basically told her how to get up and down in a chair with low blood pressure.  He told use that we were playing with "fire" ... meaning the velcade but that with the myeloma progressing there was no choice.  The appointment was very frustrating as Mom sat there with her pressure at 80 something over 40 something.  She could barely keep her eyes open and he provided no assistance in regards to it getting better any time soon as he wants he to continue with the high doasge of blood pressure meds.
