New Years Eve News
Mom and Dad went to see Dr. Thomas today and basically the news was not so good. All the results (or at least most of them) are going in the wrong direction. For the first time in a long time Mom's hemoglobin was down to 8.4 which typically means she needs a transfusion and she feels awful ... but luckily this time Mom actually feels OK. Her main complaint is her knees so we are going for x-rays this Friday to see if its the fall, the arthritus or the myeloma that is causing the knee pain. They opted not to get the tranfusion on New Years Eve as by the time they finished it would be close to midnight which is no time to be driving home from Houston. She did stay long enough to get another treatment of velcade and she will start dexamethasone this evening. A new chemo will be added on Saturday ... I will have to blog about this one later as I cannot remember exactly how to spell it. Her new cocktail will be comprised of three drugs -- two that she has been taking plus this new one. We hope and pray that the new mixture will be easy for Mom to tolerate and that the myeloma will respond. More later.
