Mom had a good night's sleep -- 5 hours -- which is amazing in ICU. I am thankful that Mom does not remember anything. She does not even remember the frist day we came to MD Anderson prior to being admitted to the hospital. We have started telling the story but she can't recall any of it -- which is great! Her bowels started working yesterday ... which if you have ever been in a hospital that is one of the key things that track. She slept on her side so she is saying that her breathing is a bit more tough today ... but she is still within all the right ranges.
Her renal doctor stopped by and indicated that her BU was 34 which is the lowest it has been (normal is 8 -20). She will get dialysis again today then she will have Sunday off. On Monday she will get a permanent catheter. They will do this while she is sedated. She is also supposed to have a MRI on Monday plus radiation ... so Monday is looking like a big day.
She may have radiation today -- they came to get her earlier but I questioned it so they are checking with the doctor prior to taking her down.
She had a lovely breakfast of vegetable broth, jello and lemon Italian ice ... oh boy! She is complaining that everything tastes rubbery ... gee, I wonder why. I am heading to the gift shop to get nail clippers so that I can give her a manicure when she wakes up again.
