There are two big things that need to happen today. First -- Mom needs to make it to and from radiation and have the radiation treatment safely and without pain. This is scheduled for 11:30am -- so set your clocks. The whole process of moving her, getting her setup, getting her the treatment then returning to ICU will take about an hour. Pray that all that happens successfully and that Mom remains calm. I believe they are going to keep her highly sedated so the "calm" portion may not be that difficult today.
Once she returns from radiation they will reduce her sedation and try to wake her. This is when she will discover the tube down her throat. Many patients panic. Pray that Mom will remain calm and that she will not be scared. Pray that angels surround her and comfort her and give her peace that she is getting better and that she will be ok. The intubation process is supposed to be one of the worst -- so extra prayer is needed to get her through this step. The good news is that she is requiring very little assistance from the machine ... pray that the apnea (or whatever the reason she was holding her breath) will stop and that she can get the tube out and breath on her own.
