NO MORE VENT!

They just took out Mom's ventilator! YIPEE! It was an exhausting day for her. She had to breath with the tube in her mouth but with no assistance from the ventilator -- so basically she was breathing through a straw. Now that would wear out the healthiest of folks. After dialysis the doctor came by and was ready to remove it BUT she did not pass the final test -- the bubble test. This is where they test to see if the muscles in around the tube are swollen -- if they are then removing the tube could make the airway close completely. One of the respiratory therapist (Cassidy) heard that Mom had not passed the test and she wanted to try a few more things -- so in she came. She made Mom cough and then "YAHOO!" we have bubbles. We left immediately after that for Mom's radtiation treatment (half way done with those -- another victory). When we got back they re-tested the bubbles one more time then the doctor gave the Ok to take out the tube! Way to go MOM! Praise God! Yahoo! Well ... I think ya'll know how we feel about that!
