At 4am they reduced Mom's sedation and started letting her wake up. As she started stirring her blood pressure went up (high but not off the charts) ... so they increased her sedation level back to 30.
Dr. G has a few ideas on giving her something to relieve her anxiety but it will allow her to wake up without dramatically increasing her blood pressure. She wants to double check with the renal doctors before moving forward.
The labs are not back yet so we do not know if Mom will have dialysis today or not. Today the goal is to get Mom off the ventilator. We need her blood pressure to stay down and her anxiety to stay down (at a reasonable rate) so that she can wake up and breath on her own. She is receiving very little from the machine so as long as we can get her transitioned she should be OK.
