I met with the renal team and they decided to give Mom dialysis again today. In fact, they stated that they may continue daily dialysis until the myeloma is under control. I agree that this is a good idea. Mom does not even have to move to get the dialysis and it is not painful -- so lets clean out those toxins!
The renal doctors said that she is responding well to the dialysis and it is good that her blood pressure is high. They have drugs to bring down blood pressure ... but there isn't much they can do to bring her blood pressure up. Both Elizabeth and I learned this during our stays in ICU.
They have not started the reduction in sedation yet as the renal doctors needed to provide their input. Dialysis started at 10:15am-ish and will last for 3 hours. I do not know if they will reduce Mom's sedation during that timeframe or not.
