Velcade Day 11: First Cycle DONE!

The egg crate placed over Mom's mattress really assisted in a good night's sleep. We have met with the radiation doctor (Dabaja) and discussed future radiation for pain or preventative care. Nothing is scheduled from a radiation perspective after today but it may be needed at some point in the future. Dr. Hagemesiter came by and basically said that they have done all they can from the cancer perspective. Mom will have 10 days off of the velcade then she will start cycle 2. Following radiation today they are supposed to remove the foley catheter -- for urine. The problem is that Mom is not able to walk to the bathroom yet -- no one has really tried. We are still waiting on rehab to come by -- apparently they are very busy folks. So we took matters into our own hands a bit ... Mom sat on the edge of the bed for 5 minutes and let her feet dangle -- major accomplishment. We have also completed 2 sets of breathing exercises and she has had a breathing treatment (Xopenex). The velcade has made her feel weak and a bit "floaty" ... but that is to be expected. Now we wait for rehab and transport to take us to the final radiation treatment.
