Bad Morning
It started off OK but it has gone downhill rather quickly. We got up at 6am since today Mom has dialysis. She eat breakfast then thought she was having indigestion which has turned into nausea ... no vomiting yet. We cancel the first therapy session at 8am and the 9am session is not looking good. The attending nurse practioner (Susan) has ordered more nausea medication and an anti-anxiety medication for Mom to take just prior to dialysis. I believe that Mom's fear of dialysis is now making her sick ... plus like me, she cannot handle a full breakfast at 6:30am. We are waiting in silence, praying that the nausea will pass. Her urine output was 1475 cc with an intake of 1740 over the past 24 hours. She had two bowel movements and we were unable to collect the associated urine -- so she is fairly close to matching her output with her intake. As of yesterday her creatinine was 4.0 with her blood urea nitrogen at 22 -- these are both high but the good news is that they are creeping up versus flying up. Her hemoglobin is down to 8.3 so I think she will need to be transfused later today ... as this one has been trending downward. So if you have some extra time -- go give blood! There is currently a blood shortage at MD Anderson.
