It's been an eventful day! Both renal doctors stopped by and they have ordered the permanent dialysis catheter removed tomorrow morning as long as the creatinine goes down again tomorrow. It went down from 3.3 yesterday to 3.1 today. Mom is still in kidney failure with her kidneys functioning at 15 to 20% ... so we still have a long way to go ... but no more dialysis!!
The case worker stopped by and she is working on setting up home physical therapy for Mom ... but the dialysis center has been canceled -- yipee!
Dr. Konzen stopped us in the hall and indicated that they will schedule the removal of the catheter as early as possible tomorrow so that Mom has time to recover. Then she will need to get chemo at some point mid-morning. So we are hoping that she has been released just prior to our meeting with Dr. Thomas at 3:30pm.
We will back here on Friday to meet with the stem cell transplantation team, then on Sunday for chemo and again next Wednesday for chemo. But it will be much more fun to go back and forth versus hanging out at the hospital.
