Gram is HOME!

Mom and Dad got home around 5:45pm. Mom looked great and Dad looked exhausted ... both looked happy to be home! Mom has very swollen legs but the doctors are not worried. Now that she is home she will have to get moving in order to prevent more clots. The doctor says that the current clots will melt away as the blood thinners do their thing. But it is really important (duh) that she does not get anymore. She came home with portal oxygen tanks and her permanent oxygen machine arrived shortly after they got home. I discovered that her PICC line has clotted when I tried to flush it with heparin. So that means an hour with the IV team as they use some "liquid draino" to get it unplugged. We are checking with the doctors to see exactly when we have to go in to have that done. If we don't have to go sooner ... we will head back to MD Anderson on Friday. But YAHOO! Mom is home!
