Starting Off Slow

Mom had a good night -- good sleep and good vitals -- in other words, stable! This morning she woke while still being heavily medicated (sedation level 20). She wanted to hold my hand, in fact, she did not want to let it go. So I held it and got the nurse to give me something to wipe out her mouth. They are letting her breath on her own even though she still has the ventilator in ... its a test to see if she can get off the ventilator. I asked her if she was in pain -- she said no. I asked her if she was having bad dreams -- and she shrugged her shoulders. The higher sedation level seems to be keeping her gag reflex down so hopefully she can pass all the tests while still having the sedation.

The radiation appointment is at 10am. So I think they will either take her down on the ventilator OR they may try to move the appointment. She needs the treatment today to attack the tumor and she gets chemo today (velcade). It's a big day! Again. She is stronger so our prayers are being answered even if it isn't exactly the way we asked.
